One of the problems that we noticed when conducting
mathematics lessons in general education schools is the low level of knowledge of students in mathematics lessons. Why? How? Who is to blame? Or was it her fault? Or is the content of mathematics subjects higher than the cognitive abilities of students? One, two ..... ten, maybe a hundred questions... We will try to find answers to all, if not all, of these questions below, perhaps the most basic. And we offer our own version on these issues. How can we prevent these situations that students are sorry for? Or how to eliminate these situations in the minds of students? In our opinion, there are two conditions here: the formation of critical thinking in students and the formation of functional literacy in mathematics in them. The article is intended for scientists, methodologists in the field of methods of teaching mathematics, as well as for today and future teachers of mathematics.
