Functional literacy of students in distance learning mathematics is a complex phenomenon that combines mathematical knowledge, digital skills, critical thinking, independence and communication, which allows students to adapt effectively onto modern conditions and use mathematics in various situations. The relevance of the study lies in identifying factors that contribute to the development of students' functional literacy and proposing the necessary solutions to increase the effectiveness of distance learning in mathematics. The main research method is to review and analyze the literature. The use of digital technologies, interactive teaching methods and project-based assignments has a positive effect on the development of functional literacy. However, difficulties associated with students’ self-regulation and remote learning of theoretical material were also identified. In conclusion, outcomes were drawn about the need for an integrated approach to distance learning, including the development of digital skills, support for student independence, and the use of practice-oriented tasks.
